I cannot even begin to tell you the difference DIY beauty has made for my skin. Before I found DIY, hundreds of dollars were flowing out of my bank account for rosacea creams, moisturizers for sensitive skin, pimple blasters, laser treatments, and don't even get me started on the mass of makeup that I used to cover my uneven skin tone.
No one taught me that my skin was revolting from all the chemicals that I was putting on it. Every time a problem popped up, I put more chemicals on it trying to control it, but it never fully submitted. When I switched to DIY and began listening to my skin and allowing it to function as it was intended-- that's when the magic happened!
Got a few minutes? I'd love to talk to you a little bit about essential oils and carrier oils that are great for your skin and how to incorporate those into your custom DIYs. Sounds like fun, right?! OMG, I AM SO EXCITED!
We got a lot to cover so let's jump right in!
DIY Beauty consists of essential oils, carrier oils, and magic! POOF! Just kidding. Just essential oils and carrier oils, but I thought that sounded like more fun. Hehehee... RULE #1: You can't swap out a liquid carrier oil for a solid one (like coconut oil or shea butter).
RULE #2: You can't substitute drop for drop when it comes to Rose Essential Oil because it's so darn concentrated. You just need 1 drop per 5 ml bottle of carrier oil of REAL Rose Essential Oil. Not the $10 kind you find at the store. That's just basically glorified synthetic perfume.
RULE #3: The same goes for really strong oils like Peppermint or Thieves. Those may need to be decreased due to their "hot" nature. Be sure to do a skin test before using.
