Take it away Darlene!!! {drum roll}

DIY Lime Guacamole with #essentialoil

You can cook with Essential Oils? You can! Let's talk about it!

As summer is coming to an end, I can't help but think of avocados and what starring role they seem to take in many of my dishes this time of year!

First let's take a stroll down memory lane. When I was growing up, we had an avocado tree in our front yard! This was exciting! I was the only kid I knew that had their very own avocado tree! The tree was huge, taller than our house, it was magnificent! Neighborhood kids and friends would ask me about it all the time! It was a very special tree.

My first experiences with avocado involved me eating it with gobs of mayo on a spoon. That is how my family taught me to eat them. I loved that, still do. #mayo4life

I had some experience with store bought guacamole. Ew is the only way to describe that! I remember having it freshly made at a neighbor's house when I was around 9 or so and that is when I knew guacamole could be amazing and the possibilities of what to do with avocados opened up to me!

This fruit (it's a fruit, I swear, the Internet told me!) has healthy fats and it is high in potassium. It's got fiber, vitamin E and B vitamins. Super food alert! I love avocados and put them in everything from sauces/spreads to salads to sandwiches because they taste amazing but they are packed with amazing stuff for our bodies so win/win, am I right?!

Now if you know me, you know I enjoy cooking and sharing recipes. When I discovered Young Living Essential Oils, I was so happy to find that you can cook with many of them! Enter guacamole.

I was making guacamole one day, as many of us do, and went to add some fresh squeezed lime juice but could not find a lime anywhere! This was not the first time I had started cooking without making sure I had all the ingredients. You know how it is! Then I remembered that I had Lime Essential Oil and I did a little dance and made us a big ole bowl of guac! I am so happy to share the recipe I developed with you:

Guacamole Recipe
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 red onion minced
  • 1-2 drops Lime Essential Oil (make sure it's a supplement essential oil)
  • 1-3 cloves garlic
  • 3-5 shakes hot sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Put all ingredients in bowl and mash to desired consistency.

SERVE ON ALL THE THINGS!

  1. Great blog! I have to admit that I've never liked avocados...of course, I've never had anything but guacamole, and I didn't like it! I think it's great that there are many oils that can be used in cooking, however, my family says, they're fine with me having the oils and using them, so long as I don't put them in the food! Lmao!

    1. Lol, I can relate! My family was hesitant at first too! I snuck lime into a marinade once and "mentioned" it later. Now they are interested in what new things I'm coming up with. Give them time, they'll come around. 😊

  2. I've never been a fan of the avocado, but that looks so yummy that I just may have to reconsider. Thanks, Darlene!
