4 Ways to Clear Negativity Naturally

You are awesome. The fact that you are here reading about how to release negativity means you are taking actions to create a more authentic, happier version of YOU. How cool is that?! If I could give you a hug or a high five, I would!

Negativity is like dust-- it can just keep collecting and piling up. Eventually our piles of dust can be so thick that it's hard to see or even remember what's underneath them. But as soon as we start brushing that dust away, then we start to see the glimmer of the awesomeness that is there. It may be a negative space or a negative part of ourselves, but with a little TLC we can make it radiate with all the things that make it (or us) so amazing.

Let me share with you four very simple way that you can start taking that step forward out of negativity, but first let's have a little chat....

4 ways to reduce negativity naturally #essentialoils

6,000 years ago people used herbs to help clear away negativity. Now before you go "That's just crazy!" let me explain. Before we had technology, people survived and thrived by using plants and what God gave them. It worked for thousands of years and developed quite a reputation for itself. In fact, many plants had similar uses in different areas of the world even though these civilizations never communicated. Coincidence? I think not.

You can use a variety of herbs and plants to help reduce negativity in your life or in your home. Essential oils are great for dispelling negativity because they are concentrated plant matter. Here are 5 of the most popular essential oils which can help dispel negativity (click the names to find out more about them).
  • Sage is cleansing and purifying. It is mentally uplifting.
  • Lavender restores balance and creates a peaceful atmosphere.
  • Cedarwood is deeply purifying, especially for clearing negative emotions.
    • Use to bless a home before taking residence
  • Rosemary brings clarity and peace
  • Juniper  purifies and creates a safe space.
Don't worry if you don't have all of these essential oils in your home, you can easily substitute them for each other or find blends that have these oils in them already. Find out more about how to get high quality essential oil here. If you'd like to see how to make a few of these recipes, then check out my YouTube video. MWAH!

Clearing Bath Salts
One of my favorite ways to dispel my own negativity is to soak in a cleansing bath.
  • 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt or Mineral Dead Sea Salt
  • 4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
  • 2 drops of Rosemary or Sage Essential Oil
  • 2 drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
  • Optional: dried sage or rosemary herbs
Simply pour the entire recipe into the tub while the bath water is running. Soak for about 10-15 minutes and let the emotions or thoughts come to you without judgement.  Don't try to push them down, stay strong or hide them any longer. Let them go!

Clear negative energy with a cleansing some #DIY bath salts

Sage Room Spray
Sage has traditionally been used to clear negative energy from rooms with smudging for many centuries. You can definitely use the traditional smudging but if you are in a hurry (or if you are traveling) then you may want to consider a room spray.
  • 1 oz distilled water
  • A pinch of fine salt
  • 10 drops of Sage Essential Oil
  • Optional: 5 drops Lavender, Rosemary, Juniper or Cedarwood essential oil
Add the salt to a small spray bottle and then add the essential oil. After a minute or two, the essential oils will be working to dissolve the salt-- now is the time to add the water.  Spray in the corners of rooms or anywhere you feel needs to be cleared of negativity

4 easy ideas to reduce negativity naturally
Clearing Carpet Cleaner
Did you know that salt crystals have an amazing natural ability to absorb negative energy? That's what makes this carpet cleaner have a little more bang than my original carpet freshener. If you don't have carpets, then you can also put salt into small bowls and put them into each room.
Add the salt to a mason jar to make an easy shaker jar (instructions are here) or use an old parmesan cheese shaker. Add the essential oils to the salt and shake until mixed. Sprinkle lightly over carpets and let sit for 30-60 minutes and then vacuum up.

Diffuse Negativity Away
Diffuse away negativity with a #diffuser and some positive #essentialoils

If you have an essential oil diffuser (like the Rainstone Diffuser) then you can diffuse essential oils to help reduce negativity around you. Feel free to combine any combination of rosemary, lavender, sage, cedarwood, and juniper that suits your needs. You may even find they may help you sleep better or may help your co-workers to behave!

Fun story! When my mom cleared the energy in her home for the first time in 50 years, she noticed an immediate difference in the attitudes of the occupants of her house! She said everyone was happy and calm including her eight pets!

I would love to hear your stories about clearing energy if you would like to share.

Other Ideas For Clearing Negativity
I love the Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils book. If you are a novice or an expert in essential oils, this book can be transforming in how it can help with emotional blockages. But a word of warning: definitely buy the hard copy and skip the e-book on this one!

Crystals can help clear negative energy, too! I can easily pick up on other people's emotions and it can drain me. Crystals have been a great way to help protect me from the negative energy of others. My favorites are black onyx and smokey quartz.

Or buy a smudging stick! You can watch this video to see how to use a smudge stick on yourself or in a room.

Also, consider using a Himalayan Natural Crystal Lamp. They can remove dust, pollen, cigarette smoke, and other contaminants from the air, but they are made of salt and as we know salt removes negativity!
